A regional emergency management bureau conducted a large-scale flood evacuation drill covering 5 square kilometers of dense residential areas and narrow roads. Traditional ground signage was easily blocked by crowds, and radio announcements caused confusion among evacuees. With limited visibility in outdoor daylight and a need for dynamic route adjustment, the bureau required a solution to project clear, real-time visual cues from the air. They selected the AOISUN LD5 5W Laser Projector integrated with their existing DJI Matrice M350 drone to address these critical challenges.
The LD5’s seamless DJI XPort interface allowed the team to mount the 900g payload to the Matrice M350 in under 10 minutes, eliminating complex setup procedures. Operators pre-programmed three core visual cues via DJI Pilot 2: evacuation route arrows, assembly zone logos, and danger zone warnings. Using the LD5’s built-in visual camera adjustment feature, they calibrated keystone correction in advance to ensure distortion-free projection at altitudes of 50–80 meters, aligning perfectly with the drill’s terrain and crowd flow plans.
During the 4-hour drill, the LD5 operated continuously in 28°C weather with light wind, adhering to its IP44 dustproof and waterproof rating. Operators used Pilot 2 to dynamically switch projections: clear green arrows marked evacuation routes on roads, yellow “Assembly Zone” logos were projected onto open squares, and red “Danger” warnings highlighted flood-prone low-lying areas. The ≥100m projection distance ensured visibility even in bright daylight, and real-time keystone correction maintained sharp imagery as the drone adjusted position to avoid crowd congestion.
The drill achieved a 98% evacuation completion rate, 30 minutes ahead of the target schedule. Crowd congestion at key intersections dropped by 80% compared to previous drills, and emergency response teams reported significantly improved coordination with clear aerial visual cues. Post-drill surveys showed 92% of evacuees could easily identify the laser-projected guidance, a 104% increase from the 45% recognition rate of traditional methods.
A head of the regional emergency management bureau stated: “The AOISUN LD5 has redefined our emergency response capabilities. Its long-distance projection, real-time visual adjustment, and seamless integration with our DJI drones turned potential chaos into a highly organized evacuation. Beyond drills, it’s proven invaluable for real-world disaster management, large-event crowd control, and on-site law enforcement guidance.”
